Understanding CBD — The Different Types

There is a lot of information out there regarding CBD products, and it can be confusing trying to make sense of it all. We are here to help make understanding CBD easy and approachable. Most CBD products on the market are made using Full Spectrum CBD, Broad Spectrum CBD, or CBD Isolate. There are significant differences between the three, and it’s important to know which one you are getting.

Full Spectrum CBD

Full Spectrum CBD is derived from the whole plant. It contains all of the other cannabinoids, and not just CBD. In addition to the variety of cannabinoids it contains, it also contains terpenes, essential vitamins, fatty acids, proteins, and other nutrients. All of these compounds work together to magnify the beneficial effects of each compound. This is commonly referred to as the “entourage effect”. Full spectrum CBD has been shown to have more enhanced effects than the other types of CBD. Most Desert Green’s CBD products are produced with Full Spectrum CBD.  

Broad Spectrum CBD

Broad Spectrum CBD falls somewhere in between Full Spectrum CBD and CBD Isolate. As with Full Spectrum CBD, the other cannabinoids and essential nutrients are preserved, but the THC is removed. It can provide the same synergistic effects as Full Spectrum CBD, without any effects from THC.

Some Desert Green products are made with our Broad Spectrum CBD oil so that our customers who are sensitive to THC can enjoy the benefits of CBD. This is also good for people who get drug tested regularly.

CBD Isolate

CBD Isolate is essentially purified CBD that has been extracted and isolated from other cannabinoids. It is thought that it takes twice as many milligrams of CBD isolate to get a similar effect as full-spectrum CBD.

No Desert Green products are made with isolate.
